Henry (aka the Butt Dog) had another surgery last week, as you can see.  I found a lump on top of his head and hoped it was nothing more than a cyst.  Unfortunately, things are never that easy when it comes to pet care around here.  When it turned out to be a solid mass, Wendy (our vet) decided it was best to remove it sooner rather than later.  Because it was small and because he’s such a good, mellow dog, she was able to remove it under a local.  She said he was great and sat patiently through the whole thing.  Good Henry!

Now my poor dog has a bad haircut and a couple of sutures.  Of course, this is a much better outcome than his last surgery in September.  Oh god. I really didn’t know how I was going to get through that after care by myself!  But he-- we-- survived.  He’s a tough little dog and still going strong at 13, but I worry about him.

Unfortunately, this newest tumor was also malignant.  The good news is it’s not likely to spread, though it might return in the same location.  Poor Henry, destined to have a bad haircut for awhile.  I keep telling him chicks dig scars and he’ll return to his regal, handsome self soon enough.  I also tell him he needs to hang in there for a couple more years.  I hope he listens to me.  I need my dog around to protect me from the raccoons.

Aw, Henry’s gorgeous, Kristina! I’m sending him a big kiss right on his bald patch! (Next to the stitches where it’s not too tender.) Hope he heals well and stays well.

Thanks, Nikki.  He loves all the extra attention (and chicken dinners) he gets when he’s been sick. wink

I have no idea what you’re talking about, Danielle. wink But yes, he does look a lot better than he did after his last surgery in September.  Thankfully!

Your dog looks like one of those Friar Monks.  I hope recovers quickly.

K, I’m glad Henry is holding up. This is good news. Tell him I have a scar too, many in fact. Scars are stories or something. Peace, A
